Fiddle Workshops for Suzuki and Traditional Violinists

Brian Wicklund Grey Fox fiddle camp fiddle workshop for kidsBrian teaches one and two day workshops for adults and kids. Although he plays and loves all fiddle styles, Brian’s specialty is teaching improvisational fiddle styles such as bluegrass, blues and swing.  He teaches students more than just tunes, he teaches students to create.   Brian guides his classes through a series of skills that range from ornamenting the melody to playing over chord changes.  He also teaches the students to accompany other musicians with chords and rhythm.  Brian tailors his instruction to teach all levels and ages.

The workshop event often culminates in a big family dance where the classes take turns providing the music for the other students and their families.  Brian works with local dance callers to guide the students and their families through circle, contra and square dances.  Please contact Brian if you would like more information about hosting a workshop in your area.

"I appreciate his gentle, yet fun manner with the kids. My son came away enthused!"

"Your concert was so entertaining and educational. Brian, you are an inspiration!"

“This Easter I came upon Brian Wicklund, the bluegrass fiddle tutor, at a week in the Cotswolds. Above all, this guy is an inspirational teacher, a Suzuki-trained top-level violinist and immense fun. He had a group of 19 students ranging from 3 ex-music college graduates to a 10-year old who’d just played folk for 3 months. He kept everyone laughing, learning and interested.” – Sue Rivett, UK violin teacher
